Canine Companion Training & Boarding Center takes pride in offering effective and complete training for dogs of all ages and temperament styles. We believe that every dog can be a well-behaved member of a family. The appropriate method to teach your dog manners, eliminate existing bad habits and teach suitable behaviors is based on your dog's inherent personality and predetermined temperament. Each dog is just as individual as his/her owner in the way that he/she will respond to training techniques. We believe that there is not one set method to teach new behaviors to a dog. In order to determine which method of training is best for your dog, we initiate all training for dogs over 6 months of age with a behavior evaluation. Dogs under 6 months of age are guided into our early education programs.

Puppy Kindergarten

The Canine Companion Puppy Course is designed to be a complete education for both the puppy and his/her entire family. Combining basic obedience education, appropriate lifestyle training, and behavior information, this course offers useful information that produces results. Whether this is a family's first puppy or 50th, every owner gains information about raising a healthy and obedient pet who can be an integral part of your family for many years to come.
- 6 week course for puppies ages 8-20 weeks.
- Addresses typical puppy problem behaviors such as playbiting, jumping, chewing, and housetraining.
- Beginning Obedience skills: Sit, Down, Walk on Leash, Come.
- Builds socialization skills during critical imprint windows with other canines as well as strangers.
- Curriculum teaches family about pack dynamics and how to effectively establish pack leadership.

Puppy Preschool is one private session for owners who cannot dedicate to the demands or schedule of a group puppy class. Also recommended for owners who may need more individualized attention for resolving certain behavior issues.

ADULT EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES:
Behavior Evaluation Scheduled by Appointment. This private meeting with one of our training staff members will help identify the areas in which you need help and instruction with your dog. A complete behavior and personality profile of your dog is taken and our training team will make recommendations and develop a plan to achieve your training goals as well as identify the areas in which you wish to make changes in your dog's behavior.

Private Instruction Flexible scheduling allows you to learn the appropriate methods to train your own dog and correct problem behaviors from one of our instructors in a One-on-One setting. We train you to effectively make changes in old behaviors and introduce new more desirable behaviors. These training sessions for the owner/dog combination can strengthen the family/dog relationship but require dedication, consistency, and structure. Programs include single private lessons or package discounts for multiple lessons.

K911 Emergency help in a private lesson format for behavior problems which can not be addressed in a group class environment. All dogs must have a behavior evaluation for recommendation into the K911 program. Typical behaviors addressed in this program could range from aggression to socialization issues, or simply unruliness and extreme excitement or loss of control around guests or strangers.

Residency Programs In some situations, it is our recommendation that the dog learn new behaviors from a professional trainer and then the owner learn to handle the already trained dog. Residency programs hasten the learning process for the dog and reduce anxiety which may be caused by a novice handler/trainer sending mixed signals during the learning phases. The reasons for which we may recommend a residency program range from a dog with behaviors which would be difficult for an inexperienced handler to resolve or they may be as simple as for convenience to the owner due to time limitations. The best situation for every dog is to learn in a structured nurturing environment. Residency programs come in a variety of packages from basic on-leash commands to advanced off-leash and range in time and cost from $300-$1000.
-All prospective residency participants must complete a behavior evaluation
-Residency programs are available on a first-come first-serve basis. We recommend that you inquire at least 2-3 months in advance if you would like to coordinate a residency training program with your own vacation plans.
AKC Canine Good Citizen Class
- 4 week course designed to prepare for a CGC test and earn degree
- Dogs should have beginning level of Basic Obedience
- AKC Certification for graduating dogs
- Develops basic citizenship skills and control around other dogs and people

Basic Obedience Group Class
-4 week course designed to introduce basic obedience and control
-Teaches the basics of Sit, Down, Come, and Walking on a leash, Off
-Excellent first step for pet owners to begin working with their dogs formally
-Limited for small class size
-Meets every other week so that participants have ample practice opportunities between each session
-Call for class times and availability
-Course fee $65
Manners 101
-3 sessions in a group setting to introduce techniques to teach basic manners to your pet
-Curriculum covers elements which will help all pet owners (even those not interested in participating in a formal obedience class)
-Learn the most common mistakes made by pet owners which cause bad manners to develop
-Class meets every other week to allow for flexibility and busy schedules
